School Continuous Improvement Plan

 Academic

To continue to improve OLGC’s students’ reading literacy, specifically in the area of reading comprehension of all students at OLGC School – in the area of (reading strategies) for our primary and intermediate students. And to improve OLGC students’ math number sense/fluency in Mathematics from Grade K to 7.

Spiritual

To make improvements to our Spiritual practices of Adoration and Novenas at set times of the year

Our deep hope is that students become Saints. Under the Salesian focus at our school we strive to holiness in all things. Students strive to do their “ordinary deeds extraordinarily well” and in doing so can achieve sainthood. The common mantra present in the school is “do your ordinary deeds extraordinarily well.” – St. John Bosco.

As well we striving for a balanced approach to education:

  • Spiritual Development
  • Academic Excellence
  • Athletic Participation
  • Music/Fine Arts Program

In reaching for these goals we:

  • Use IXL Reading and Math
  • Explicitly teach reading strategies and math strategies
  • Use a Guided Reading Program Gr. K-7 -use the Reading Power Program throughout the school
  • Participate in monthly Adoration and take part in the Novena to Don Bosco in January and the Novena to Our Lady of Good Counsel in April

At OLGC we promote faith, fun, fundamentals, and fine arts.
